5 Axis CNC

5 Axis CNC

CNC 5-axis refers to the ability of a Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machine to perform 5-axis simultaneously. Most manufacturers describe their CNC machine movement from three axes: X, Y and Z. Z axis is parallel to the spindle. The other two axes are provided by the ability of the machine to rotate around the axis X and Y.

The Rx axis rotates around the axis parallel and X. Ry axis parallel to the wheel and around the Y axis Rz-axis represents the bottom bracket installed in the center of the cut of the machine spindle.

Using 5-axis offers some benefits. With such a machine, you can make complex shapes in a single set-up. In turn, this reduces the preparation time, which increases production rates. Moreover, with the elimination of different set-ups, time and errors are reduced.

The characteristic functions of accuracy is also improved with a 5-axis CNC machine because the same zero reference or data frame is used throughout the manufacturing process. Moreover, since the simultaneous rotation is allowed along the Y axis and X, the more rigid and shorter tools can be used.

The upper spindle / speed cutting tool can be achieved by reducing the load on the cut. The cutters shorter and often slow down the vibration when machining deep pockets or features molded with 3 axes.
Some applications of 5-axis machines include the complex three-dimensional profiles, which are common for the turbine blades, impellers, molds and plastic instruments. Using this tool, the activities which comprise only know information about the movement of tools such as forms processing, processing and cutting condition.

When you want to work on sculpture surface machining on 5-axis milling machines with numerical control, you must determine the direction vector of the cutter. The direction vector is obtained from the premise that the bottom edge of the racing milling free-form surfaces with a Z-Map method.

This Z-Map method can be applied to all types of surfaces carved geometric. After the 5-axis NC part programs are generated, the sculpted surfaces are machined with a 5-axis machine CNC milling.

3D CNC software is used for the graphic simulation and timing. With it, you can simulate and optimize the process already at work planning. There is no need to make complex tests on the real machine.

The errors in the program are immediately displayed on the monitor. In addition, the position of the suction cups is displayed and controlled to avoid collisions with tools when processing non-stop.

Among the highlights are moving the overall layout, the rotation of the workpiece after a CN-stop, and the simulation seen at different points of view. Although processing times are displayed without simulation. There are also automatic reading of the configuration of the machine with 3 axis and 5 axis CNC machining.

5-axis CNC machining is used to carve designs on wood to make furniture and interior design. It 'also used to cut out shapes of different materials as part of a finished product as do plastic helmets.
